Emergencies
For all dental emergencies
Phone the practice as soon as possible. If you phone before 10:00 we will be able to offer you at least one time for an appointment on the same day. If you call later than this we cannot guarantee an appointment the same day although in the majority of cases this will still be possible.
If the practice is closed, we have an out of hours emergency telephone number 01845 571110 . This service is available for our Denplan and private registered patients and should only be used if the practice is closed and in cases of extreme emergency.
You should leave your name, telephone number, the name of the dentist at this practice whom you normally see and a brief description of your problem. The on-call dentist will call you back shortly. You will be given advice or urgent treatment as required and within 24 hours, for problems such as toothache, broken tooth/filling, bleeding, swelling, infections and painful wisdom teeth. For Denplan patients this is covered by your insurance.
Every one else, including registered and unregistered NHS patients, should call NHS Direct 0845 603 1407. This service will however only cover you for extreme emergencies as directed by the PCT. This defines as i). Severe and uncontrolable bleeding from an extracted socket. ii). A severe and life threatening swelling of the face or mouth.
This obviously does not include attention to problems such as loose crowns, broken fillings or sore oral tissues.
